The Armor Of God

Today I want to touch on Ephesians 6:10-18. While God tells us on how to fight our battles, many of us don’t take the time to listen closely enough to what the Bible says to do. A lot of us sadly choose other routes to “protect” our hearts but those things won’t lead us to security or peace. In reality, not spending enough time with God is like putting a bandaid on and calling it good. It isn’t enough and it won’t help you throughout the day.

Imagine you are in medieval times. You are about to go to war and you want to cover yourself as best as possible so you can lower your risk of injury or death. You put on your chainmail to protect the areas your armor doesn’t. You then place your armor on top for extra protection. Now imagine that you are still in medieval times about ready to go to war yet you decided you didn’t have enough time to grab your chainmail or you forgot your armor at home. It wouldn’t end very well for you.

You can’t fight a battle and live without protection and wisdom. So why is it that many Christians think they can fight their battles against the devil dressed in their nighties. We decide we don’t have enough time or get distracted, you can come up with any excuses you’d like, but when it comes down to it-it’s your choice and making excuses doesn’t help add protection to you life. To be completely honest, if fighting against demons was a physical battle, most Christians today would be severely injured or dead.

Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the LORD’s people.

Ephesians 6:10-18

God tells us what we need to do yet most of us fail to do it. Why is that? Could it be because of..

  • Doubt?
  • Fear?
  • Distrust?
  • Proudness?
  • Distractions?

Whatever it may be, start to ask God to fix you! We need to stand up with the full armor of God; not bits and pieces and what we think or feel we need. The way we put on our armor, is to read Gods word daily and to get to KNOW him.

Don’t feel you have enough truth? Read about Gods truth. Need righteousness? Read about Gods righteousness. It’s so easy to do now a days. We have the power of google, YouTube, internet that if we are hungry for God; life has made it easy for us. But we still choose to ignore Him.

I would hate to go to heaven knowing I had easy access to HIS knowledge at my fingertips yet I chose other items before him. If you want examples of people truly on fire for God look at the disciples and how they lived. People back then didn’t have the means to just google search a sermon. Yet they knew how to live under God, therefore God was able to preform miracles through them and they were bold. Their hunger for God was so was genuine and so real. They knew they needed him daily to put on the armor of God and to understand him.

So today I ask you: Are you putting the armor of God on or are you dressing yourself in your nighties? Pray this prayer with me:

Dear Lord,

I have been placing other items in my life before you hoping they would help ease my insecurities. I tried to find peace through other ways but the peace was not lasting. Please forgive me and help me find everlasting peace and truth through your word. Help me to lean on you when all else fails.

For those who want to know Jesus:

Lord, please come into my life. I know I can’t do this life on my own and I need you! Please forgive me of my sins and help me to walk a free life! Come into my heart Lord.
