Healing My Diastasis Recti

Okay so I’ve reached my goal size but now what?? Well, I am working on pursuing more education on physical fitness and helping others feel confident in their own skin. I found out that I really enjoy relating to others who are in the same boat and it’s almost become my ministry. I also signed up for a contest so we will see where that goes. I enjoy talking about my emotions, the struggles and tips. So my posts will stay relatively the same just with a few more lifestyle fitness topics here and there….it’s basically what I’m doing right now…😆

15 Minute Diastasis Recti Repair Workout—Postnatal Core After Pregnancy.

On another note, I am working on strengthening my core by doing some special exercises to heal my diastasis recti. I want to share a video that has been helping me fix my diastasis recti. Man.. I’m so glad I do not have to actually say that and I can type it. I wish I had done my research the first time around because I found out that that some exercise moves are a big no no and can damage your abs further. If you would like to check for diastasis ill give a brief description on what to look for and how to look for it. I also realize I may never close the gap completely but I can help strengthen my core by doing these exercises.

When I am doing these exercises I am looking for a few things. The first thing I do is lay on my back with my knees bent. You will want to lift your head off the ground but not into a crunch. Then you will feel along the middle of your abs starting at the top of your rib cage. What I’m looking for is how much tension or lack of tension I have when I reach my fingers in the gap. How deep can my fingers go? Do your fingers have a little bounce or is it squishy? I also am looking for how wide my separation is; however, I have found out some spacing is normal. So if you have a gap don’t fret! My gap usually is at my belly button and it starts with an inch deep and 2 fingers wide.

If you have any concerns or before doing these exercises it’s best to talk with your health care provider…and no, baymax from big hero 6 doesn’t count. Many woman, like myself, have separation near or below their belly buttons after pregnancy and its something that just happens. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or physical fitness instructor but a mama who strives to help others in their daily lives. This information is based off my own research.I am not claiming that I know everything nor telling you what you should or shouldn’t do.

  1. That’s so fun that you are into fitness! I am too! Ive lost 70 lbs since my mid-twenties, and you can’t go through an endeavor like that without becoming interested in fitness and nutrition. Is there a specific nutrition plan you follow? I’m currently learning more about one called 2B. Now I just need to put it in action! By the way, congratulations on reaching your goal weight! 🥳

    1. That is amazing that you have lost 70lbs. I have not done anything to specific but I am sensitive to dairy and sugar so I try to minimize how much I eat. I have not heard of 2B. 🥰
